Finally got my megajolt fitted to the GT6 last week or maybe I should say I have thrown it at the car!!!

At the moment I'm happy with the positioning of all of the major components apart from the megajolt unit itself ( rattling around in the passenger side glovebox)

The wiring has been thrown at the car just to prove that it works and will be done properly next week (soldered and shrinkwrapped) instead of connector blocks but hey it works!!!

I installed a map that Rob (Bobbyspit) gave me to try, the one in the pic.

Strange thing was that the value in the bottom left corner (ignition Advance) was somehow set to 15 and not zero as in the pic. I mistakenly thought that this was cranking advance to assist with startup and smooth tickover but it seemed to be adding an extra value of 15 to all of the values in the map

It was running very well on the way to Robs house to show him my handywork this afternoon but with the laptop on the passenger seat and taking the odd glance when I could I was more than a little worried about the advance I was running (melting pistons was springing to mind) though I had no signs of pinking or detonation.

At Robs we got rid of the 15 degrees of ignition advance and it then ran on the map as expected and Rob took it for a quick run with Neil Mac who was there too. Long story short Rob thought it was running well but when I took it home with the extra 15 degrees missing it was no where near as lively

Thoughts please!!!

Say it three of four times mate

I am baffled by this, the 15 degree difference plus! making it run more powerful? have you added the degrees again or have you left it as we set it with no advance?

Don't forget Steve its a starter map one to be played with, I thought it ran better than with your Distributor, but there is room for improvement when you gap your plugs and get the map fine tuned.

Other than that well done mate, a good build !

No I left it as we had it set without the extra 15 degrees every where.
though with the extra advance it certainly had more low down torque, I think I just need to keep playing around untill I'm happy.
It is amazing how much you can change the feel of the engine in seconds with a laptop.

Well done ole boy,   , totally baffled by these maps though, they all back to front, and upside doon, compared to ..omex..

but it looks like you need alot more advance , 50 load, and up to 4.5 rpm ish

If I can recall, you got a low comp heed, so ye can run alot more dvance, than a high comp head,

best try that map Nick showed  you, and ..tweek.. frae there, as Nicks seemed a decent one

Find a quiet bit,,with big up hill, top gear,+ od, and you will be able to hold rpm sites,  and tweek till it pinks, then back off 3 degs ish,  I found it was no far off, when I RR,d mine
after a  while you will get it nearly there, as you dont have to doo all sites, just interpolate, ,and alot will be the same,!!!

BUT either get some one in with ye, to fiddle, ..OR.. keep yer eyes ont road,!!!!!

wel done, just need ..injection noo..

Marcus

That would explain why it felt a lot better with 15 added to every number in the map above, it would be not too far away from your suggestion of 50 degrees load but maybe too much lower down?

Sorted my friend

Now, let me get my current(dragging on and I am fed up to the back teeth with it) job done and dusted, which will be about when I go on holiday, so when I get back it is project "megajolt in toledo"! Hoping it will be all done and dusted for RBRR

You,ll be suprised how quick you can get it close , whenst ..fiddlin ont move..

Ok I've tried to convert Nick's MegaSquirt map to MegaJolt and here is how it comes out

I won't get to try this out until tomorrow as we are off out for the day soon.

The axis between the maps are reversed and I don't have as many load bins to play with 10 as opposed to 12 so I have averaged out some figures a bit.

At the moment I'm happy with the positioning of all of the major components.

Thoughts please!!!

Crank angle sensor CAS is better mounted inside the run of the belt so you dont need to remove sensor to remove belt.
Mine is mounted on a bracket welded onto the timing cover.

I did think about that but I have a newish fan belt and it's only two extra screws to change it.

The crank sensor is at 8 degrees BTDC and mounted with no adjustment possible. So if I move it to change a belt it should go back in the same spot.

I have offset the software (ver 4.02) by +2 degrees so the MegaJolt see's it as 10 degrees BTDC.
