Since the last RBRR there has been a large section of the A9 that has had average speed cameras livened up.

These are over a 120mile stretch of the A9 between Dunblane and Inverness, my understanding is that the sections are split focussing on the single carriageway part of the route.

This is likely to catch a few entrants out if we are not careful, the A9 has lots of traffic free sections at the time of night that we'll be using it, plus there is the need to accelerate hard to overtake lorries ever now and then which will push the average up.

Here are some Maps with the Camera Locations.

Bugger.

These sorts of things can take a lot of the fun out of the event. Whilst I don't condone speeding, the limits etc are set for the lowest common denominator - and this isn't going to be us lot in our classics that know how to drive them...

I agree, however they probably won't be as much of a problem for Team 80!

Thanks for the warning though Andy

I think the warning is good but absolutely unnecessary for members of  Club Triumph.
I know not one member who would ever contemplate driving faster than the allowed maximum.
We are after all law abiding citizens and understand why there has to be a 50MPH speed limit in the north of Scotland at 03:00 hours on a mild but fresh October morning.

Good luck to all participants!!

there are now some average speed cameras on the A1 north of Peterborough and very badly signed, easy to miss them.

Look on google images, find a few cars like yours and install false plates! If you want to ensure no-one innocent gets a ticket check out a few number plates and find one where the car no longer appears on DVLA records (ie it's probably scrapped!)...

BTW I wouldn't actually recommend this! If you get caught it would be fraud and you'd wish you had just been honest and got a few points and a fine for speeding while you are languishing in jail afterwards!

I've just thought, what is the speed limit on this stretch now? 120 miles at 50mph will absolutely kill the fun of that bit of the event...

I've had a bit of a search and found this

http://www.transport.gov.scot/a9-perth-thurso-trunk-road

Seems to be indicating mostly normal National speed limits - 60 single carriageway/70 duel carriageway - other than the usual 30s, 40s etc. through villages.  Hopefully this is correct and so not too much of a PITA!

Drove back from Inverness to Perth and beyond, bit boring to say the least!

Thanks to Mike for the A1 info though.

Gawd!

Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run (Part of the organising team, what a team)!
RBRR is the best car event in the UK, not probably, it is!

1970 GT6 Mk.2: Royal Blue 6 RBRRs (98, 00,02,04,06 & 10), 2 10CRs (03 & 07). 2 HCRs 1 LCC, lots of Autosolos and numerous track days. Bought in 1983, crikey where did the time go! Now running the Roy Lacey cooling system!

1969 2.5Pi Mk.1: Slate Grey 3 10CRs (05,09 & 15), 3 RBRRs (08, 12 & 16), 3 HCRs, 2 LCCs. A few alloy panels, does need the pi kit fitting. Bought April '04. Needs paint! Just fitted some new 7J Minilites-not copies!

1967 Spitfire mk2: Wedgewood Blue. Bought November 2010. Almost seems civilised. Car has done a RBRR (Dave Picton 2010). Blimey, could be on the road soon!

My numberplate has a nasty habit of falling off.

Acclaim - fully working and on the road
13/60 Herald - mx5 powered and other such fun things, legal enough...
Mk1 2000 - it's still alive, just sleeping
Expert 815d - the slug

If in doubt, do up until you hear the crack and then go another 1/4 turn to ensure tightness.
