Hi,
I'm thinking of getting my carbs overhauled but can anyone give me an idea of cost?

I've seen a few on eBay for approx. £350-£400 but I don't think those required exchange parts?

Also could anyone recommend a rolling road tuners not too far from Basingstoke?

Hi

Don't know what carbs you have.

It's a pretty easy DIY thing on pre emmision Strombergs (don't know about others) as long as the bodies aren't worn where the spindles go through). The only fiddley bit as I remember is separating the connecting rod ball joint things (tapping out one of the rolled steel pins). Not sure if the ball joints are available new, if yours are shot.

Buck Eye Triumph have in depth re build info, on the net.

If you don't want to DIY, then carb specialists will re build, maybe cheaper than that E bay price (I would imagine they are refurbs).

Just checked the invoice by Andrew Turner Carb Specialist for the SUs on Woodie when done for the previous owner (does other carbs as well).

Superb job and cost £225 in 2010

Hi Richard

I took my Spitfire to SRE to get the twin Dellortos set up.  I was very impressed with Neil's thoroughness, and his patience in explaining each test/adjustment as he went along.
The drive home was fun - especially in accelleration with the accellerator pumps and carb balance correctly adjusted
