Morning All,

Has anyone managed to get the headlamp adjusters to work.................

Also is it known how many (few) Acclaims are still on the road?

There is one  in Trowbridge and I am in Chippenham, that makes 2

Regards,
John

I don't honestly believe the adjusters ever did work. Nice idea but a little beyond the technology of the time.

My brother's Acclaim definitely had working headlamp adjusters. They weren't especially useful but they worked. Mind you, that was 20 some years ago when the car was only 10 years old.

They should work. And mine did, until they got tickled with a death disc... I had a go at repair and refill but it didn't work.

Acclaim - fully working and on the road
13/60 Herald - mx5 powered and other such fun things, legal enough...
Mk1 2000 - it's still alive, just sleeping
Expert 815d - the slug

If in doubt, do up until you hear the crack and then go another 1/4 turn to ensure tightness.

If you turn the knob and it feels springy the the fault is normaly the acuator under the headlamp has seized, it is possible to free them off, dont try taking ghem off tbe bracket but remove it from the car and see if it wants to move, careful what you spray on it is rubber safe and when you get it moving pack it around with red rubber grease.
