My car came without any wiper arms fitted, though the linkages, motor wheel boxes etc were all present. Anyway I now have new arms, nuts, gaskets, spacers etc but all is not going sweetly

Have gotten the passenger side one on BUT cannot get the driver side sorted, just cannot get the chrome nut to get a bite on the wheel box spindle thread!? Without any of the gubbins on there the nut goes on just fine, but once the gasket, arm and spacer enter the equation it's not having any of it

Am I missing something obvious? Are they just a pain to fit?

Any help most appreciated as this is one of the last items stopping it from finally being registered and driveable.

The wiper arms on AAC simply push tightly onto 24 spline caps on the spindle ends.

Pictures would be very useful to see the particular arrangement that you're struggling with.

How do the spacers that go between the wheelbox and the inside of the windscreen panel look like?
Could be that the supplied spacers are to thick/large? Other culprit could be the rubber gaskets that needs to be compressed.

This is how the spacers should look like (the two items in the RH upper corner of the first picture) ...

Sorry, forgot to take some pics today.

The spacers are correct as per your pic Beans, the arm is correct, might try making a thinner gasket as that seems to be the main issue.
