Hi all, might be a long shot (hopefully not). But need to get 2 new front tyres for the GT6 as last few times I've done my usual checks I've forgotten to check the tyres (duh!) seems they have worn on the outside so ideally want to get the alignment/camber checked at the same time.

pretty sure everything else suspension-wise is ok (i know sagging springs can cause uneven wear), it's probably due to the few times I've had to replace track rod ends over the last few years, i'm fairly sure small differences in these each time may be the cause despite me counting the turns religiously when replacing!

With a new baby and work being busy time is a bit limited so thought i'd get a mobile guy to do it, fine for fitting the tyres but not sure i trust some of them to do the alignment on a classic. Anyone know anyone they can recommend? Sussex/Horsham area.

How many shims would be a safe number to get to make sure in case needed?

Cheers in advance.

Most modern tyre garages do not have alignment kit that can cope with 13'' wheels.

Ask when ringing around. I think National Tyres may do though.

Take camber, toe in/toe out figures with you as most are computerised and may not have GT6 figs. They will probably have Spitfire figures, I don't think they are the same????

RBRR is the best car event in the UK, not probably, it is!

1970 GT6 Mk.2: Royal Blue 6 RBRRs (98, 00,02,04,06 & 10), 2 10CRs (03 & 07). 2 HCRs 1 LCC, lots of Autosolos and numerous track days. Bought in 1983, crikey where did the time go! Now running the Roy Lacey cooling system!

1969 2.5Pi Mk.1: Slate Grey 3 10CRs (05,09 & 15), 3 RBRRs (08, 12 & 16), 3 HCRs, 2 LCCs. A few alloy panels, does need the pi kit fitting. Bought April '04. Needs paint! Just fitted some new 7J Minilites-not copies!

1967 Spitfire mk2: Wedgewood Blue. Bought November 2010. Almost seems civilised. Car has done a RBRR (Dave Picton 2010). Blimey, could be on the road soon!

Just a thought, had you considered adjustable radius arms, and do away with shims. Easier to adjust instead of heel board nuts. Our local tyre guys have a Supertracker 4 whl alignment machine and does all ours. However slight difference in geographic location

Nice one Tim! i didn't know there was one of those about 5mins drive from my house! plus they have the tyres i want £2 cheaper than i was going to pay! each! haha. That's almost a pint round here!

Front wheel alignment is £29 which seems good to me!

Yeah got the figures from here:
http://www.triumphspitfire.com/align.html

VR the rears are fine, may enquire how much doing all 4 for good measure would be, does anyone sell adjustable ones out of interest or would it be a home mod job?

If thinking of buying from National Tyres, try https://www.tyre-shopper.co.uk.....wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds who are national tyres, but you buy online and they fit them at your local one. Usually a fair bit cheaper (mad or what!)

If John's GT6 is a rotoflex car, it will have adjustable radius arms. I think it as I think Mallard Green denotes a pre-swing spring car.

It is a rotoflex car so they are adjustable (I should have known that straight off really!). Cheers guys.
