As most of you know now i have a mk1 2.5pi estate which is currently valencia which is not a colour i like, I have to order some paint for some other jobs and going to get the paint for the pi at the same time.
Now what is peoples opinion should i change the colour or keep it valencia was thinking of a dark blue.

cheers andy

keep it original!!!!

It is a VERY rare car, only a handful of the handful that were made still exist, don't spoil it by changing the colour.

valencia - yuk!  Not my cup of tea!  I'd be thinking about changing it too.  I have the same dilemma with my Mk1 PI saloon, not so keen on laurel either!

If I do change it, I'll stick to Triumph colours of that period though, to preserve authenticity -  so would suggest the same to you!

Having seen David Aspinall's royal blue Mk1, that would come near to the top of my list

Hello Andy,

I also have a MK 1 in Valencia and I hate the colour, I just don't have the time to do a full respray and all that it entails.

I ummed and ahhed for ages about changing my mk1 pi estate from white, but in the end went for keeping it white. It's original, and there ain't too many around these days (of any colour). So I think you should keep it valencia. New paint looks so much better than old paint, anyway. New wood and sorting the seats made me happier with my white paint.

And actually whilst I think about it, the mk2 PI saloon was valencia, and looked fab with a new coat on: http://club.triumph.org.uk/clubtorque/articles/jul06/ctq.jpg

You got keep it original!!!!!...................as mentioned due to rarity...........but then it is now your car and your choice.I think Valencia is a good colour (after White of course) followed by Damson. If you find the thread when I first got the car there is a picture when Henry had the restored in it's fresh paint and looks brill!.

Valencia would be my choice, (I like the colour anyway) but as your car, it is up to you.
The very dark red is a nice colour, and a mk1 pi estate in that colour features on the Register web pages. White is one of those colours which IMHO doesn't look good on an estate even though it does on a saloon pi. Royal blue looks better on a saloon too.
How about Mallard, not sure if it was offered as a mk1 colour, but looks great on an estate....very classy.

Colin.

Andy have you decided wether or not to keep the PI long term?
I'd be inclined to keep it valencia if you think you'll just sell it on,however if you think it could be a keeper then go for what ever colour takes your fancy.
A car as rare as these should be kept pretty original, but if you dont like it then whats the point.
