National Drive It Day will soon be upon us on Sunday 23rd April.  Traditionally it is the day for the first run of the new classic car season, so get preparing!

Last year we met at the Bicester Heritage Center where about 1,000 cars from other clubs also gathered. The 25 crews that came enjoyed themselves so much that I have been instructed to repeat the format for 2017.  Here is the link to BHC
http://bicesterheritage.co.uk/events/sunday-scramble-drive-day/  which explains the event and the timings.

The theme of the event is that you drive your Triumph some distance to the BHC, meet other club members, have a look at the classic car and aircraft specialists, have a look at the other cars and then drive home.  Refreshments will be available, but you can bring your own. The route you take to get there is up to you and local area  organisers will be co-ordinating groups. Last year we had crews that came from Lancashire and from near Norwich and if you live near Bicester you can always get there via Bristol!

Booking will be in advance through the BHC website. They do not have the entry page in place yet. We will have an area for CT.  I'll post details nearer the event.

Last year 25 crews came and had a great drive and day at BHC.  I hope more will come and find out about this exceptional venue this year.

Chris

To see the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (of which CT is a member) website follow http://www.fbhvc.co.uk/heritage-culture-and-museums/drive-it-day/

and to see details of the 1900 run around Britain that Drive It Day commemorates follow http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/1900_One_Thousand_Mile_Trial

I can see Tim B and Nigel A having kittens if they ran the RBRR to those timings and looking at the results of the speed trial today's speed limits would not be a problem for the entrants.

Bicester a good objective.

If you are further south, then Thruxton Circuit would be another - Classic Sports Car Club event that weekend, Swinging 60s race on the Sunday.
Triumphs involved - All Triumpheros welcome in the paddock!

I have just purchased tickets too so there are 2 more which may make.......................... see next post

Harold: '67 Herald (Not 1200 for a while now) convertible - some bits still fairly shiny & red some not quite so shiny, some now even the wrong kind of red! Height adjustable at the front by virtue of clever spring seat thingies (and flat tyres) and at the back by virtue of how much cr*p is in the boot

Maude: '66 2000 (for now) saloon in amazingly good and near original condition with mahoosive Webasto sunroof, manual now with o/d and back on the road after 9 year lapse. Much electrickery, Alfa seatery & carburettory also now done.

Polish them if you must, but don't stick them on the mantelpiece - drive them (carefully, cos the number of wheels in contact with the black stuff [or the other end of the driveshaft] is liable to change when you least expect it !

Just got back from being away for the last two weeks.

Thanks to all who have bought a ticket / tickets.  I am pleased that things are beginning to move.  I'd like it if we could get more than the 25 who came last year.  We had a great time at Bicester last year and all enjoyed the drive to and from Bicester, which is what it is about.

Cheers, Chris

I have a request for all bringing a car to be in the Club Triumph area at Bicester on Drive it Day.

Please would you prepare an A4 sheet to put in your windscreen to tell other visitors about your car.  This will make the visitor's experience of looking at your car more informative and enjoyable and create a favorable impression of Club Triumph.  I suggest the information you provide includes:

Photo, model and year, Specification highlighting the modifications that you have made. When you bought it, what (CT) events you have done with it, what you plan to do with it and anything else of interest.

Below as a suggestion is a sheet I did some years ago for my TR7.  I'll need to update this. The best way to display the information is in a plastic folder selotaped to the back side of the windscreen.

This post contains attachments; to download them you must login.
