Hi all,

I know they were never used on Triumphs, but is there a chance anyone out there has a Weber 38DGAS carb knocking around?

I have various parts of 38 dgas -enough to make a whole one I think...why do you need one!?

Try the parts for sale here - always seems to be a few for sale !

Well, I may have been a bit foolish and bought a Citroen AX GT - and the Weber 38DGAS might be a bolt on improvement over the 32 carb as standard. I think it's a bolt on swap, maybe with some changes to the throttle cable etc... In any case, I've had a look on ebay and you can buy repro ones for a small fortune so was hoping there may be a bit of an old knacker , but might be rebuildable, so I can see if it is a bolt on swap, or if I've just made the whole thing up...

So various parts might be ideal

You should be able to find a second hand one for around 50/100 quids..on flea bay? most ford essex post 72 used them along with pintos etc - I forgot about your citroenee !

The 38dgas is auto choke for your project you might want the DGMS which is the manual version rather than have lots of heater pipes going back and forth etc -or get a manual choke conversion for the dgas

Pic here of pipe work http://shedtunecars.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/shed-happenings.html

Ive got plenty of instructions etc for setting up the dgas if needed -can post up some dimensions to investigate if its bolt on swap-surely there must be some post 1992 "kevins" on here than had done it in the past !

Must admit would rather keep my bits for spares for the scimitar

Yeah, that's the thing, that's a pretty good chunk of money just to see if something will fit - particularly when you consider that the whole car, complete with cage, harnesses, seats, two sets of spare wheels etc all only cost me £695!

That's an interesting point on the choke front - the AX has heater pipes through the carb, but does also have a manual choke cable, but it might be worth me investigating a DGMS version.

Depending on what I find, do you have a spare carb body I can borrow just for mock up purposes? Unless you con't mind checking this diagram against your carb, so I can at least check if the mating flange is the same as the AX?
