Hi All,

I've just bought myself a big old compressor - fed up with farting about with my little Lidl's POS, so I went all out and spent my summer bonus on an XE18/200.

Now, the outlet of the compressor is threaded internally, but I'm not sure how to reduce that fitting down to the 1/4"BSP standard size. I've tried googling it, and even asked the Machine Mart tech people, but no-one seems to know the thread size so I can buy a reducer to get my airline to fit.

Has anyone else got one, and know what thread size the outlet is?

Are the threads good old BSP? If so then all you need is an appropriate set of reducers?

Knowing your level of mechanical knowledge though, there must be a twist to this tale?

Well, part of the issue is that the air line I have and most of the fittings are a combination of ancient British stuff, and metric stuff - some of which have similar threads and pitches, but aren't quite the same...

However, it's more that I'm sitting in an office and wanting to get the bits I need ordered so I can try to finish the install this weekend... but I don't have the compressor on my desk

3/4BSP seems likely... They're only a few quid, so may as well give it a go.

Either 3/4" BSP or 1/2" BSP seem to be the most common. My garage has a run of 1/2" BSP pipe around from the compressor to several outlets, with simple adpaters for the 1/4" BSP quick connect fittings.

I gave the Lidl one to a mate rather than just binning it. I popped up to my workshop after work and it's 3/4" BSP.

I think I'm sorted Dave, have spent a small fortune on adaptors etc. Seems daft to have to step up and down to fit together components bought from the same shop;

Compressor outlet > 3/4 > 1/4 > 1/4 > 1/2 > Filter/Pressure regulator inlet/Outlet > 1/2 > 1/4 > Snap Connector > Main hose > 1/4 > Snap connector > air tool...

Jeeees.
