Just having a look through Triumph World and it crossed my mind that there was never a Dolomite or 1500 estate. Was there a reason for this?

I would buy one of those tomorrow if I had the chance! It just looks right; sort of reminds me of the fabulous E30 Touring.

I was told by one of my TDC friends (I'll call him Steve) that he was told that somebody had scrapped it not knowing that it was the only one made.

It was scrapped (don't know when). The story goes is that when Steve was going round scrapyards in Leeds, one of them told him that they'd scrapped a 1300 estate not knowing that it was unique! I'll try to find out more from Steve.

Prolly the same reason they never bothered with a factory Vitesse Estate.

If you look round the British Motor Museum (formerly known as the Heritage Centre) in Gaydon, you will find lots of examples of vehicles that never made it into production. It was all down to a lack of money and too much internal brand competition (the 1100/1300 was available in SIX different brands!).
