|  National Day   6th July 2008 | ||
Our National Day this year will be held at Hatton Country World, near Warwick, CV35 7LD. The venue is centrally located, some five miles from junction 15 of the M40. Take the A46 towards Coventry and take the first exit, the A4177 towards Solihull, then follow the brown tourist signs for Hatton Country World. The opening hours are 10 am to 5 pm.
There are two special attractions at Hatton Country World, the Farm Village and the Shopping Village. The Farm Village spreads over several acres and attractions include magic shows and Punch & Judy for the kids, meet the animals including goats, donkeys and alpacas, a guinea pig village, pony and tractor rides, falconry displays, rare breeds, sheep racing, a kids funfair and bouncy castle. Admission to the Farm Village will be at the concessionary rate of £6.25 per person for Club members. Children under two are admitted free. There will be an additional charge of £1 for the bouncy castle and a height restriction of 4' 6". Proof of Club membership must be shown on entry to the Farm Village to receive the discounted admission rate. You should either produce a current membership card or a copy of the May 2008 edition of Club Torque.
For more information on the venue have a look at www.hattonworld.com. When you read this however, the off-season prices may still be in force for entry to the Farm Village. Ignore these, come July entry for the general public will be around £9 per person so our special Club rate of £6.25 will represent good value.
The Shopping Village, which is of course free to enter, offers many craft and speciality gift shops along quaint streets of converted Victorian farm buildings. In addition, visitors will find an antiques centre, outlet shopping for clothes and a farm shop with fresh, quality food.
There is a large, well-drained rally field available for us to park all Club cars together. Trade stalls are permitted provided they do not clash with existing established traders at Hatton Country World so we hope to attract one or two spares dealers or autojumblers. In addition, of course, our Club Shop will be operating as usual. We will present the Classic Assessments Trophy to the owner of the car of the day and there will also be a distance award.
There is a restaurant on site, open from 10 am to 5 pm. If you prefer you can bring a picnic lunch and barbecues are permitted. Dogs are allowed on the rally field and in the Shopping Village but must be under proper control on a lead at all times. No dogs other than registered assistance dogs are allowed anywhere in the Farm Village.
The Club is being charged for the hire of the rally field for our exclusive use. We will in turn charge members £2 per car on arrival and remit the agreed sum to the Hatton Country World management at the end of the day. Any surplus we raise over the actual hire charge will be donated to the RNLI in support of this year's Round Britain Reliability Run fundraising activities.
We look forward to a good turnout of members and friends for our National.
