The bank holiday weekend of 28th & 29th May saw hundreds of Standard Triumph cars assemble for T.I.M.E. - the Triumph International Millennium Event at Mallory Park in Leicestershire.
The event got off to a damp start on Sunday as freak weather hit England. Those enthusiasts who braved it had to shelter from thunder and hailstorms in the clubs marquee. On the track we were entertained by a brave contingent of novice motorcycle racers.
The main day of the event on Monday and the weather was much improved, the rain held off and there were even a few sunny intervals. The event was organised by the forum of Triumph Clubs and all major Triumph clubs were represented as well as many traders and autojumblers.

After lunch the main event featured an impressive of program of classic car racing starting with an all Triumph race, a round of the Cambridge Motorsports TR Register/TSSC Race Championship.
Colin Pendle in his TR7 V8 was on pole and put up a dominating performance, leading from the start and increasing his lead every lap. Mark Richards mounted an early challenge in TR7 V8 but dropped back after mechanical problems allowing Richard Bull in the Classic Race Craft TR5 to pick up an impressive second place.

Later on the programme included a post historic touring car race and the crowd were thrilled by the battle between the lead Dolomite Sprint of Nigel Garrett and the Chevrolet Camaro of ony Scott-Andrews. The 5.7 litre engine of the Camoro was more than match for the the 2 litre Dollie on the straights enabling Scott-Andrews to close up on Garrett and even get along side him on the esses on one lap, but the agility of Sprint enabled Garrett to pull away every time at the hairpin, taking him to victory.
