Members will be saddened to learn that our Vice - President, David Shewry, was taken ill earlier this week and passed away in hospital on Wednesday night. David was on the Club Committee for 47 years, for 17 of which he served as Chairman, bringing a light touch and unfailing friendly good humour to the proceedings. This will be well appreciated by anyone who heard his addresses at our annual Dinner over the years, even when joining us from his hospital bed by audio link to participate in the 2017 event. David actually planned these Dinners for over twenty years, together with his wife Shirley with whom our thoughts and prayers now reside. David was one of life's true gentlemen in the full sense of the word; in all the years I knew him I cannot recall him having a bad word to say about anyone and that is an epitaph granted to few.

Many of you will be aware that on the 22nd July, our motorsports' governing body MSUK announced a careful restart of motorsport. For full text, see link below.

Since then, albeit subject to strict Covid-19 related precautions including strict social distancing, various Clubs have been started putting on limited numbers of competitive events again.
The Club Calendar will be updated soon with confirmed events that we are aware of and your committee are in the process of drafting a new calendar of Club events with the hope that we will be able to run something ourselves before the year ends.
Exciting times!
Apologies to all users for a website issue which was preventing new content from being posted on the site over the weekend. Our response was delayed by covid issues at our supplier. Thanks for your patience and thanks to those who reported the issue.
MSUK have recently updated their policy on restarting motorsport and issued lengthy instructions. In relation to Touring Assemblies they say:
“Where events will require more than 1 person in the vehicle it will not be possible whilst social distancing requirements are in place. Therefore, it will not be possible for Treasure Hunts or Touring Assemblies to take place initially.”
Further Professor Chris Whitty is on record as not expecting social distancing regulations to be relaxed this year.
This means that MSUK will not issue a permit for the event this year. Therefore, the Club deeply regrets that it has to cancel The Coast to Coast Run 2020. Entry fees and merchandising payments will be refunded during June
The Competitions Committee still hopes to stage some events this year and is continuing to look for opportunities to arrange events that comply with the future regulatory changes and satisfy safety and legal restrictions. If any are possible they will be announced on the website, so please keep checking it over regularly.
Despite the disappointment of cancelled events this year we are putting our heads together right now to make 2021 the best year we possibly can for Club events
Featuring the TR6 our latest magazine is now online with full access for members.
Friday evening would have marked for many the start of our annual pilgrimage to the National Weekend.
This year we would have again been hosting with our neighbouring petrol heads in the TR Drivers Club.
In these unprecedented times we all have to find a new normal, so we (that’s The TR Drivers Club & Club Triumph) are inviting you to The Harris Arms (to be set up as a Zoom Call) on Friday evening 8pm til late.
Pop in for an informal chat, a short pub quiz (which will start at 8:30pm) & a bit of banter, bring your own beer or wine & we’ll see you online.
Please private message Ellis Stokes to be added to the guest list (and receive the joining instructions).
We may have to limit the amount of people in the bar, so don't hang about with the message!
See you on Friday!
Just a reminder that all Motorsport UK permitted events remain suspended until at least June 30th 2020, including those organised by our Club.
