Does anyone know whether MKIV Factory Hardtops (as purchased when new as an option from the dealer) were always the same colour as the body of the car - or were they ever sold with Black hardtops?? If so is the Black colour Code 11 - or were they marketed with a textured finish.
Curious as I am painting a green hardtop to fit my (mimosa (ish) yellow ) Spifire. Think I prefer a black top but interested to know what was standard in period - especially if anyone knows a specific paint code or spec. Thanks

Pretty sure they were usually the same colour as the car, but don't know if that was always the case. Your hard-top, your car, your choice of colour I'd say. Though black possibly not the most suitable for warm weather use! We have a yellow hard-top..... but the car isn't. Certainly more civilized and weather-tight with it fitted.
