Club Triumph

Finally got the FWD back on the road and found a disturbing problem. Car pull to the left quite badly when hands off the wheel and also pulls left under braking. Also have a notable rhythmic scraping sound related to road speed.

I have had ball joints replaced, brakes overhauled and front struts/shocks replaced as the car had been sitting a while with very little use.

Current suspects are tyres/tyre pressures, wheel alignment/tracking

Could a bad alignment cause a pull to the left? Would old tyres cause a problem? Any other ideas?

It could well be a faulty tyre.

When Howard Priors Mk1 2000 "Le Bucket" was put back on the road it had the most terrible pull to the left, turned out it had a tyre that had sloped tread, would instantly fall over however hard you tried to standi it up.

They went through everytjing else first I think trying to pinpoint the cause.

Just Swap the front wheels from side to side, then test drive! If it still pulls to left, it was not the tyre, if it now pulls to right, it was!
That will eliminate that idea!

All looking better with a tyre swap and some air in the tyres. Reckon they need replacing as they are pretty hard and have flatspots.

Steering is now exciting as it has decided not to self-centre and looks like it moves on the mounts alot. Luckily I have some leftover bushes from a spitfire project so will swap the rack mounts on the weekend and see if it helps.
