If you really do want to put an additive in just use an higher grade fuel like Shell optimax or whatever they are calling it now. |

Whatever you decide DO NOT buy one of those inline or intank gizmos as they are just snake oil crap. Sounds like a plan, 30k miles is about 15 years at current usage level. As a CSMA member I was asked to test the in-tank system that they recommend in my MKI Capri 3000GT. Didn't do a lot except rattle about in the tank when fuel was low. A lot of people say use it on unleaded, it will run for a good 30K with no issues, then when the valves do start to recede or you get a burnt valve just change to an unleaded head then. Not worth putting a new head on now when there's going to be nothing wrong with the current one for the next 30K miles. Cook1e |

...If it's the same engine as the 1300 Dolomite, the handbook recommends 97RON which these days will be 'super' unleaded. I've got that engine in my 1200 Herald conv. & when I initially started running it on 'ordinary' she used to pink...now runs much better on the liquid-gold stuff. I used to put a 'sniff' of Millers in but my local garage hasn't had any in stock for a long time & there don't seem to be any ill effects..... |
