The MoT revealed that the front sub-frame had broken off in one corner. That might explain the somewhat wayward handling. I also need new rubber boots and some tightening up of steering components.

I was really disappointed that after the work was done Daisy developed really heavy steering, no doubt exacerbated by the 13" steering wheel that I prefer. Even more disappointed to find tha the 300 miles driven since the MoT had virtually destroyed both front tyre outer edges.

No problem. We have just the right people locally - Black Boots, Chesham - who had sorted out a handling problem with my MGF last year using their state of the art wheel alignment kit. Daisy is a bit different from the Lotuses, Subarus, Ferraris and the like they usually see. Two new budget tyres and a considerable amout of adjustment later and Daisy is back to be being an agile but stable handler, albeit with slightly heavy steering - but then I've been driving my Lexus a lot and after wafting that along anything feels heavy to drive.

The morale? Wheel alignment is a GOOD thing.

Yeah, I've got to get mine done when I eventually get some new tyres. I keep swapping them around to get even wear. ;)

One thing which is far too late to say - if you're planning on doing another autosolo it may have been a good idea to keep those tyres and put them on a rough set of wheels to use on the front at an event.

So true - one of the first things I had done when I got my "Steve", and it made a HUGE difference. Always helps the rest of the car run 'tickety boo'.
