Hi I got a kit car with a dolomite 1500 engine in it the car was in a mess when I got it 2 month ago just fort I would post some pics


Will have the car finished at the end of the week I'm going to do some  hill climb and track days with the car so if you think of any thing what will make the engine faster please say

It's not letting me send pics on my ipad I will get on the laptop to morrow and send some  :(

Still waiting Taylor, where are the pictures then? I thought my laptop took a long time to load pictures but it seems that yours is even slower.  :)
How's the car coming along? Have you finished it yet? I'm sure you will be glad when it is, just like I will be when I finish building a Locost I started when you were 3, yes I know, but I am not the slowest builder of one, not quite but close.  :-/ :B

Haha sorry I fegot all about puting photos up will try geting some soon it's nerly done just got the get the side lights working the front side lights work but the back side lights don't work

I'm sure you will have it finished and on the road soon.
Performance, even with a 1500 Dolomite, will be surprising lively. I am building a Locost with a 1300 x/flow Ford motor and that is surprisingly quick, even though I have only tested it up the farm track.  :)

Now, I have just destroyed another 1500 engine. That is 2 now in as many years, both off-road (goodwood the first, the prodrive track last weekend)
So some friendly advice.
Get an oil cooler.
Use the best oil you can find. I was on VR1, changing to millers css 20w60 now.
Get a rev limiter :o

None will make the car go faster. All will help you finish events.

Hi cliftyhanger I'm going to get a oil cooler before I go on the track.
I have just got a lumenition electric ignition so I'm going to get a lumenition rev limiter.
I will get a photo of the rear end and off under the bonnet to night
I have just done a oil change and put valvoline racing vr1 20w/50 in the engine.
And yes spider I'm hoping it for it go on the road at the weekend.
I'm liking your car mine looked a bit like that when I got mine.

Hi Taylor,
I built mine from scratch and made everything myself. It has taken awhile though, started when you were 4yrs old, too many other projects getting in the way.  It's nearly finished now, as long as they don't change the IVA rules again. I've been sorting out the wiring today, not my favorite job as it's too much like my job being an electronics/communications technician. The plan is to get it finished this summer before starting on the MK1 2000/MK2 GT6 and the Z550 Kawasaki restorations. So much to do and so little time.  :-/

I wouldn't hold your breath Taylor not judging by the length of time it has taken me so far. Did some more work on the wiring today, a long slow boring process  but it has to be done. After that it is rear mudguards on fit dash and a few bits of tidying up and it should be ready for IVA test, fingers crossed.
You'll have to put up a list of where your competing in yours and if it's nearby I'll pop along to watch.
Plenty of good advice on Locost builders forum for "7" type cars, but you can't beat the advice on here, especially Triumph related.

Hi I am going to  competing in the harewood hill climb championship and going to do some trackdays at blyton park I the next month.
The car is getting mot this Saturday so hopefully it will be on the road next week
