Club Triumph

I bought my Toledo back in 2007 and enjoyed it for a year, before the fault list got to long and now it's been sat ever since. I'm going to need some help to get it back on the road, so please excuse all the silly questions. I'll get some pictures tomorrow. But first, it's stuck  in the rain as the recovery truck that moved it from my parents garage dumped it on my drive 20m from the garage and the brakes are firmly stuck on, any ideas?

The fault list that is easy to spot is as follows:
1. The clutch pedal is on the floor
2. the brakes are stuck on
3. The steering rack bushes are totally shot (was the MOT failure)
4. It won't start.

Whre abouts are you?

Brakes usually jolt free with a swift tug from another vehical, or a bit of drive form itself. backs tend to be suck on or free. Fronts, if disks will stick, then maybe rub, but shouldnt stop teh car moving once jolted free.

Clutch pedal on the floor. > Maybe no fluid left and master stuck. In which case in you sellect a gear the the car will move, or crunch as you try to select - once running. The slave may also stick, which can leave you with no drive at all. In this case the car is stuck with the pedal pressed in, and only by releasing the slave from the gearbox (BE CAREFUL!) will you regain any drive.

Rack bushes often used to fail MOT. They are pretty cheap, but wrapping in insulation tape and refitting bulks up the bush and can get you though! Metal ones or poly are available too, but if clamped right then original ones should be okay if not oil soaked.

Wont start..... flat battery - jump from something else
No fuel - empty / leaky tank, broken fuel lines, dead fuel pump, stuck jet in carb?
No spark - most likely - clean the points and see if they spark when poked (with ignition on) (CAREFULLY!) King lead on coil should spark as the points spark too. Maybe rotor arm if spark on king lead but not at plug leads.

1300 engiens are very very simple and quite hardy. you should get it running quite easily, then you can fix the issues to make it reliable again!

I'm on the Staffordshire / Cheshire border, the brakes must be stuck on very well as 5 of us pushed it out the garage and then the recovery winched it onto the truck.  :(

The engine turns just won't catch.

Clutch I haven't a clue, and i've ordered some nice new poly bushes.  8)

Good luck. all above advice seems good. Check the spark at the plugs and resist the temptation to pull it all to bits. If it was running when you last used it is likely to have corroded electric bits which are easily sorted. If it filled with unleaded it will have turned quite quickly in to something noxious and not very flammable. pour some fresh stuff into the carb and try turning it over again. if its an SU see if you can disconect the feed pipe and squirt some fresh stuff down the pipe. So shortly after posting,  a lorry decided to use the back of my 205 to stop at traffic lights,  :o (now fixed, after a long and frustrating argument with the insurance) plus it was snowy and cold here well into the beginning of April so the poor old Toledo ha been sat still in the garage.

A positive step in the right direction, is that I've insured it as part of my multicar policy, so if I can get it going we can pop it to the MOT station to find out how much rot we've developed in the last 3 years of inactivity.

First Job I reckon is to replace the plugs and drain/refill the fuel tank and pop the battery on charge.
