Hi all
I have a dolomite 1500 engine.
Now it will not start I will tell you every thing what I have tryed.
I got a kit car about a week ago now with a dolomite 1500 engine in it.
the man who had the car said that the carb had been updated and he said the engine will not run because the carbs are not sett up.
Any way  I when and got new ht leads , new distribritor , new spark plugs , new fuel filter and new coil so I knew all that was working .
I got the spark plug and put it onto somthing metbtle and it sparked so I know I am geting a spark.
I have timed the It 10 degrees befor tdc  now that Bright.
I have sean if the floots are ok the fuel is about half way up in the float chamber.
The sliders are moving freely.
The plugs are getting wet so they is fuel geting to the spark plugs.
I have tryed taking the mixtrur crew right in then fetching it out 2 full turns then adjusting it from there.
Then engine starts when I put my hands over the carbs  but then when I take my hands away it just cuts out.

Please help even if you have some contact numbers I can ring for advice

Timing set ten BTDC but certain on firing stroke? Easy to set 180 degrees out.  Check rotor arm pointing to correct plug.

Then try some KwikStart to confirm that ignition IS woring.  If carb wrong will run for a few seconds then stop..  If that is so then Ignition OK fuel not

Hi
The ignition is all of it starts when I put my hands over the carbs but runs for about 5 seconds then stops
It is brand new fuel in the car so it's not that

Sounds like the butterflys are not closed, or there is an air leak past the carburettors.

How old is the fuel?? If its been kicking round for 12 months or longer it may be stale ,try a fresh gallon!
