Quoted from Dion Yes, Wire Wheels were a Factory Option and quite popular on the TR Range, I'm just not a big fan? Maybe if they had been Chrome Wires I may have left them on, although they are a pain to keep clean (so I've been told?) Triumph maybe ought to have made some Steel Rostyles, I'm sure if Ford, MG, Etc could do it, surely it couldn't have been that expensive, although with the Trims being polished Stainless Steel maybe Triumph Stylists/Designers thought they looked better? When I put my Mk2 Vitesse back on the road after a four year rebuild in 2006 I put a N.O.S. Set of PI Trims on it and loved the look of them ![]() A couple of Pics of the TR with Painted 60 Spoke wires and the Vitesse with Rostyle PI Trims. Each to there own? ![]() ![]() |

Quoted from Alex Gary, Blimey, so did I until I read that Alex does as well, not so sure now! Nice car, good to see one looking so original. You now need to find a soft top with the original grey reflector around the side window aperture. Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run: Part of the organising team, and honoured to be associated 1970 TR6 Maroon. Bought May 2018. Since pruchase: Full suspension re-build, new clutch and propshaft plus re-built driveshafts. Goes well. Blimey, lots more done now, gearbox replaced (Canley Classics unit), 7J black minilites c/w Uniroyal tyres (Crikey, un-stickable), Revington's Targa springs. Now needs some engine work and some brakes. Otherwise, well on its way to becoming a Club Triumph type car, i.e. one that is actually used! Previously owned: Triumph Dolomite Sprint (Now owned by Paul Hughes) Herald 1200 Coupe on mk2 chassis (Now owned by Jess Cook and being properly used) Vitesse mk2 Conv: Sold in 1983, still on the road! Various Citroens and Pugs DD: Focus ST Diesel...torquey! |

Quoted from timbancroft61 I Doubt any N.O.S. Hoods are available now Tim, if they are knowing TR5 Prices I would need to take another mortgage out to afford one! ![]() ![]() ![]() I've been trying to find some better condition Rostyle trims and was offered a N.O.S. Set, but for the price of them I could have got a new Set of Chrome Wires and Tyres and still had change ![]() I'm finding it hard to come to terms with the costs of Original parts for the 5 ![]() Anyone got any good condition 15" Rostyle trims they want to sell me? ![]() |

Quoted from garyf You never know, I managed to buy a new old stock hood for my mk2 Spitfire two years ago. That was sold to me by a trader who is very reasonable. So you are more than correct in thinking that a N.O.S hood would be serious money. Are they the same as those fitted to an early TR6? Would the USA be a source? Good luck on the Rostyle quest! Quoted from timbancroft61 Tim Although I'm trying to keep my car original, I'm not going to the nth degree with it, it would cost a fortune! I'm not sure if the early TR6 Hoods are the same as a TR5, still learning my way with regards to originality on the 5? If I was on the quest to have my car exactly as original I would have fitted some Michelin XAS type tyres, which where one of the standard fitment tyres on the TR5's when new, however when I was pricing up Tyres the Michelins worked out around 3 Times the price of the Vredestein ones I've purchased! The car's had a New Quality Everflex type hood fitted by the Previous Owner earlier this year, together with a new Tonneau Cover, so I don't see the point in changing these. I'm hoping the Wheel trims don't go flying off when I turn the first corner ![]() Apparently they have a habit of doing this on the 5, I've tried bending the lip on the attachment ring in line with the 3 point where they fit on the wheel and they seem a tight fit, don't really want to cable tie them on. |

Quoted from garyf Cable ties is the only way to save them. Only needs to be one and it can be a narrow one. Schadenfreude expert and collector of assorted rusty Triumphs on the Essex/Suffolk Border. |

When I fitted the PI Trims on the Vitesse I made up a Top Hat shaped bracket that fitted over two of the wheel studs, held secure by two Wheel Nuts. |
