I think I prefer the "standard" type of overdrive as I have on my Healey 100 and I imagine the same on the TR2/3 except the Healey is only in 3rd and 4th. |

Here is the Healey on the very first Rally of the Tests back in 2000 or 2001. The only time I have ever come back for a rally. |

I would love to have a go at Rally of the Tests or LeJog etc, but the entry cost was just too much. I can't remember exactly, but for LeJog, the entry would have been not far off £10,000 all in (That was using one of the Hero hire cars though). 62 Vitesse 1600 - Slammed & modified67 2000 - Fitted with 2.5 o/d - 2012 RBRR, 2015 Essex Rally, 2016 HCR, 2016 RBRR 67 2000 Estate - Dormant 70 Herald 13/60 - First car, many bits 77 CZ 125 Sport - 70 miles on the clock 77 Kawasaki KM90 - Shop hack 81 Yamaha DT125 - Many bits 88 Ginetta G4/4 - Dead 88 BMW E30 320i - For Sale 89 Citroen AX GT - Rally car! 90 BMW E30 318iS - Building to FIA spec 90 Mazda Eunos 1.6 - 'Popeye' 93 BMW 530i - Donor 95 BMW E34 540i - 4L V8 |

I used to consider, on an annual basis, the Monte Carlo Historique (not in the Healey) but have decided it's just too expensive. I'd want to trailer the car to the start and have the trailer available through the event, with wheels and tyres available. That means a crew, and even if it's friends then their expenses have to be added on. |

Just logging in to say I haven't disappeared. Haven't had much time to look at potential purchases. But, I did have a drive in a friend's TR3A and I liked it. It's important to get that basic possible problem out of the way. It had a 2200 engine which I guess ought to be an important thing to look for ? Seemed quite lively although one doesn't like to take advantage when driving someone else's car (especially if they are in it!) |

I bought a TR3a from the USA from a company called Merit Cars in New York State and then shipped it to the UK. Rust free from a life in Texas and Ohio and now one week away from being back on the road. I made lots of errors and had a few strokes of luck. My main advice is that there are 917 TR3s in the UK at the moment so KEEP LOOKING and BE PATIENT! Happy to be of any assistance you need - I also have a shed load of spare parts. Long story, small shed. |

Well, I went down to the South of France, Toulon, yesterday to see a TR3A. And I have bought it. I am going back next weekend to collect. It's a 1960 car which has had rack and pinion steering added by the present owner. It's a USA export car so original LHD and the present owner has taken the body off and had it repaired where necessary and repainted and retrimmed. The colour is Royal Blue so not a TR original colour but I think it suits it well. No history on the engine and gearbox/ o/d but the engine has been replaced at some point. |

A really lovely car and I agree with you the colour suits it down to the ground. You've spent a long time looking and I bet you're over the moon having found THE one. I'm sure the trip home will be really memorable for all the right reasons. Now to start getting it prepared for rallyes ! Will have an entry in for the Routes des Vosges in October. Main thing will be to fit things that do not make unecessary holes or to do things that are not reversible. Rétrotrip will be the first item. |

Lovely car Curtis, congratulations. The colour is just great for a TR3 and not one you see everyday. I rather think that I should like to be a saddle on a bike. |

Off at 06.00 tomorrow morning. Very hot here, in the 30s. Thank goodness for the clim. It's a black weekend here and Sunday especially. End of the holidays. But I should be going against the traffic on the way down and Monday all will be back at work. Not me though !! Will probably be 12/13 hours non stop with the trailer on the return. |

Back as planned and have had a few runs in the country . Not too far as it is only insured 3rd party until the valuation is done. I think I am going to love this car. |

Nearly two years since we heard about this car, how is it performing...do you still have her?
Any news? Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run: Part of the organising team, and honoured to be associated 1970 TR6 Maroon. Bought May 2018. Since pruchase: Full suspension re-build, new clutch and propshaft plus re-built driveshafts. Goes well. Blimey, lots more done now, gearbox replaced (Canley Classics unit), 7J black minilites c/w Uniroyal tyres (Crikey, un-stickable), Revington's Targa springs. Now needs some engine work and some brakes. Otherwise, well on its way to becoming a Club Triumph type car, i.e. one that is actually used! Previously owned: Triumph Dolomite Sprint (Now owned by Paul Hughes) Herald 1200 Coupe on mk2 chassis (Now owned by Jess Cook and being properly used) Vitesse mk2 Conv: Sold in 1983, still on the road! Various Citroens and Pugs DD: Focus ST Diesel...torquey! |
